WetlandLink
WetlandCare Australia, with funding from the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust has established WetlandLink, a wetland management news service designed to provide targeted wetland management information to landholders on the NSW coast.
WetlandLink forms part of Wetland Management Solutions – a new partnership of wetland practitioners and experts working together for better management of Australian wetlands, with a particular focus on nation-wide delivery of training and support options that address regional and local issues and needs.
The information service is being piloted on the NSW coast. It has the potential to be replicated in other regions and applied throughout Australia.
WetlandLink has the following project objectives:
- To improve access to funding programs that provide incentives for environmental restoration and conservation projects
- To increase community engagement in environmental restoration and conservation projects
- To stimulate new ideas and improved project concepts for NRM projects
The information provided through WetlandLink is designed specifically to encourage the implementation of, and participation in, good quality environmental management projects. WetlandLink provides the following services:
- A hub where Government agencies, non-government organisations and corporations can advertise funding programs for NRM projects
- A source of information designed to build the capacity of landholders and community groups so they can manage wetlands efficiently and effectively
- A site where NRM professionals can share information about wetland management initiatives being undertaken at the individual, local and regional level
WetlandLink products include a free electronic newsletter, a website, and a one-page hardcopy brochure.
- The e-newsletter is sent out quarterly to those who subscribe through
the website - The website, http://wetlandlink.com.au, houses an archive of newsletter articles, sorted by topic area
- The quarterly brochure provides an abstract of the main articles of each newsletter for those not connected to the internet. Printouts of articles
are available through local CMA offices and WetlandCare Australia
