WWF-Australia, with funding from the Australian Government’s Natural
Heritage Trust, is embarking on Phase 2 of the Shorebird Conservation Project (SCP) to help protect and enhance shorebird habitat cross Australia.

Phase 2 forms part of Wetland Management Solutions – a new partnership of wetland practitioners
and experts working together for better management of Australian wetlands.

The project seeks to deliver conservation outcomes for shorebirds through:

Shorebird Conservation Toolkit

The Shorebird Conservation Toolkit - www.shorebirds.org.au – has been developed to help protect and enhance shorebird habitat across Australia.

The toolkit builds on the success of the national Shorebird Conservation Project (2001-05), drawing from over 31 on-ground and community-driven projects across Australia.

The toolkit will enable users to:

Supporting Regional Conservation Efforts

The project is also providing support to (four) priority regions for shorebirds - Northern Territory, Rangelands WA, South East SA and West Gippsland, Victoria – by helping local management and interest groups to raise awareness of shorebirds and protect their habitat from coastal development pressures, human disturbance impacts, introduced pests and invasive weeds.
